I'm so sad. Seoul's South Gate (숭례문) was largely destroyed during a fire late Sunday night in Korea.

This gate was located in the part of Seoul with which I was most familiar. On many Sunday evenings I would head down to the Lotte Mart near Seoul Station to do my grocery shopping for the week. That Lotte Mart happened to be in an area of the city near the South Gate. Many times before doing my shopping, I would sorta wander around that neighborhood, pondering my future and life in general amongst other things.

As that area was mainly a business district, it never had much going on during the average Sunday evening.
It was actually a pretty peaceful place to amble through, well as peaceful as the center of Seoul ever could be, I suppose. I remember the first time I walked through the South Gate. Admittedly, I was slightly disappointed since in person it was somewhat less impressive than the icon I had seen in images and had over time come to inextricably associate with Seoul -- strikingly embodying the past Korea held onto as she rushed into a modern age that had grown up and was now towering around the old landmark.

Aside from that inevitable first feeling of let down, however, I remember acutely experiencing the kind of sensation you feel when after several years of first forming an impression of a place you never in a million years imagined visiting, you find yourself actually setting foot in that very place. That feeling was sharp. It reminded me that my life was and is panning out in a manner I would have never envisioned -- and mustering up as much faith as I can in God and His work in me, I still try to say that that is a good thing.

Heys!

Hecka long time no updating. And this comes one day late, since I was at WCC over the weekend (which was both tough and awesome like last year), but, it's time for the yearly "xinniankuaile, sucka." So,

Also, Perry made a halarious Chinese New Years video of his own, watch it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4DYiRgRdZAE
